Woop Woop Bear and Willow the dog have been out exploring the winding paths of Wonham Woods in Tiverton… and oh my, what a fungi-filled adventure it turned out to be! 🐻🐾🌲

Here are some of their magical discoveries:

🟠 Golden Mushrooms – peeking out from the forest floor like tiny woodland lanterns. These bright clusters love to grow on decaying wood, reminding us that new life always springs from old.

❤️ Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria) – the classic red-and-white fairy tale mushroom! ✨ It’s the one you’ll see in storybooks where elves and pixies hide underneath. Beautiful to admire… but poisonous, so strictly for looking, not nibbling!

🔥 Yellow Stagshorn Fungus (Calocera viscosa) – a fiery burst of orange coral growing straight out of a tree stump. It looks like mini flames but it’s actually nature’s recycler, breaking down old conifer wood.

🌿 Clusters of Woodland Caps – small golden-brown toadstools, working quietly to keep the forest floor rich with nutrients. Not flashy, but just as important in the great woodland cycle.

❤️🍄 Another Fly Agaric sighting! Hiding shyly between the trees, this second red-and-white cap looked like a fairy’s umbrella waiting for its owner.

🤍 Pale Funnel-Shaped Mushrooms – delicate cups and funnels scattered among the leaf litter.
